The Estrela Basilica, built in the Baroque style. The park opposite is one of the nicest in Lisbon, with exotic plants and trees.

Take the ferry from Lisbons Cais do Sodré to Cacilhas on the other side of the Tagus; Walk along the edge of the river past ruined abandoned warehouses until you come to Restaurant Ponto Final. CLOSED in January.

All over Lisbon were banners saying “Obrigadado Mario” Mario Soares was Prime Minister three times and President for ten years. A central figure who helped Portugal return to democracy.
